“17 West 32nd Street” is Saxophonist Russell van den Berg’s third solo project and his long awaited first major straight ahead quartet album, establishing an interestingly unique band sound and line up. All the tracks are Russell’s original compositions and are played on the album by Jim Hart alternating between Congas and Vibraphone, Steve Watts on Bass and Gary Willcox on Drums. His music reflects a New York influence, inspired by his many visits there, mainly playing tributes to his influences and great teachers. This group also stretches a theme started by this albums predecessor “Plastic City”.
